About Contractor Pathway
The most comprehensive contractor license exam prep platform nationwide — built by contractors, for contractors.
Our Mission
We believe every skilled tradesperson deserves a clear, affordable path to getting their contractor license. The CSLB exam shouldn’t be a barrier to building your business — it should be a stepping stone. Contractor Pathway exists to make that step as straightforward as possible.
Who We Are
Contractor Pathway was founded by licensed California contractors who know firsthand how frustrating the licensing process can be. We spent years in the field — framing houses, running plumbing, pulling wire, managing crews — before navigating the CSLB exam process ourselves. We built this platform because the study materials available to us were outdated, overpriced, or didn’t reflect what actually appeared on the exam.
Our team includes licensed contractors, construction educators, and content specialists who collaborate to create study materials that are accurate, current, and specifically tailored to California codes and regulations. Every question in our question bank references real California Building Code sections, Cal/OSHA standards, and Business & Professions Code provisions.
What Sets Us Apart
Every study guide and practice exam is written for California codes and standards — not recycled from generic national material. When California law differs from federal standards, we cover the California answer.
From A — General Engineering to C-61 — Limited Specialty, we cover contractor license classifications across 44 states, including the required law and business exams. No gaps, no missing trades.
Our answer explanations cite specific code sections — CBC, CPC, CEC, Cal/OSHA Title 8, B&P Code — so you learn not just the answer, but where it comes from.
Individual courses start at $99 for 30 days of access. We believe cost shouldn’t prevent you from getting licensed.
