A C-54 Ceramic and Mosaic Tile license authorizes preparing surfaces and installing ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, glass, and mosaic tile in residential and commercial settings, from substrate prep through final grout and sealant. C-54 does not cover custom stone fabrication or the cutting and polishing of countertop slabs — that scope sits under C-29 Masonry instead. CSLB does not require you to hold a prior industry certification (such as a Ceramic Tile Education Foundation credential) to sit for the license exam, though the C-54 trade exam itself is closed-book, unlike the more widely passable Law and Business exam.
