How to get licensed in Oregon

Who licenses contractors in Oregon?
The Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB). Nearly all construction work in Oregon requires CCB licensing.
What does Oregon require to get licensed?
You must complete 16 hours of approved pre-license training and then pass the Oregon CCB exam. Unlike most states, Oregon uses a single law- and business-focused exam rather than separate trade exams.
Tell me about the Oregon CCB exam.
It is a PSI open-book exam of 80 multiple-choice questions. You have three hours and must score 70% (at least 56 correct) to pass, the fee is $60, and you receive your result before you leave the test center.
Is the 16-hour pre-license course the same as the exam?
No. Completing the 16-hour training is separate from passing the state exam – you are not required to pass a final course exam to earn the training credit, but you must still pass the CCB exam to get your license.
